My best two tips for people doing portraits... com My best two tips for people doing portraits... come in with an idea of what you want to do BUT:
- select a photographer whose superpowers align with the shots you want.
- the shots you will looooove are probably going to be the ones where you take a bit of a risk and lean into your real self or taste, not what's popular, safe, or you think others will like.
If you do these two things, your photographer is going to go the extra mile, since they will be as excited about the shoot as you are!

I have been MIA. Over the last few months, I have had a cold, a flu, worst migraine since I was a teenager, and now a headache that's lasted almost a week, pinched nerve maybe? (prob should see a doctor). Anyway, just sleeping and painkillers currently, hopefully back right soon.

I have never been afraid to write off sunk costs. I have never been afraid to write off sunk costs. There are things in my life I have invested a lot of time, money, and effort into, but when it came to needing to point the boat in a new direction... I found it relatively easy. For example, I worked as an engineer designing electronic hardware and microcontroller software. I had done a degree and university masters in physics (first class honours) to get to that position... then 15 years later, I did a 180 and became a photographer. That was awesome for 10 or so years. and now... next phase.
I have a job as a labourer, which is fantastic for keeping me healthy and fit. And a new hobby making things. I suspect it will mainly be with clay. I need to learn pretty much everything... I currently have no skills, but for some weird reason, I have absolute certainty about the things I want to make, how they feel, and look. It sounds absolutely mad, but I am all in on this.
Yes I will still do photography, but organically.
